Pregones and Encuentro at LATC
Switching hats for this one. As choreographer and Assistant Director of this piece, I've been able to take Magadalen Gomez's words and set them to movement. Because her words are daring, thought-provoking, lyrically enveloping, and funny, creating a movement vocabulary for this piece was a thrill. After presentign the piece at home for a weekend, we took it to the Encuentro Festival at the L.A. Thetaer Center where audiences and critics fell in love with the piece, the way that I fell in love with it when I first read it.
